Relegation threatened West Ham have scooped up Fulham striker Luis Boa Morte for a reported fee of 5 million pounds.

The Portuguese left winger is Alan Curbishley’s first signing as Hammers manager. Fulham did not want him to leave, but the player himself wanted to leave Craven Cottage.Boa Morte had joined Fulham from Southampton in 2001. He previously played for London rivals Arsenal.

Boa Morte’s move to Upton Park has upset some Fulham supporters as he had committed to a new contract last season. He has put pen to paper a 3 and a half year deal at Upton Park. West Ham have also been linked with former Man City winger Shaun Wright Philips.
