Wolfsburg sign former Hertha BSC player Marcelinho

By Soccer Blog | Jan 13, 2007

German club Wolfsburg have signed Brazilian attacking midfielder Marcelinho from Trabnzonspor for a fee of 2.75 million euros. The Brazilian had signed for the Turkish club on a three year contract in 2006, but lasted less than six months at the club.

The Bundesliga is where Marcelinho has excelled, and his caps for Brazil came as a result of his form in the league. His longest stint at any club has been at Hertha, where he spent 5 seasons and scored 66 goals in 155 appearances. He is a technically gifted player, and like many of his kind, is brilliant at set pieces.

Wolfsburg currently lie at 15th in the Bundesliga, and Klaus Augenthaler will hope that he can reproduce his previous form and help them move up the table.  Marcelinho’s new teammates include German forward Mike Hanke, Bulgarian midfielder Marian Hristov and Polish medio Jacek Krynzowek.
