Milan Baros headed for Lyon??

By Soccer Blog | Jan 20, 2007

Lyon boss Gerard Houllier has reportedly stated that he wants to sign Aston Villa’s Milan Baros.

Baros had earlier rejected an opportunity to move to the French club when he was out of favour at Liverpool because he wanted to remain in the Premiership. He currently is at Aston Villa and is reported to have a fee release clause of about 15 million pounds.

Baros has a phenomenal strike rate at international level, but has been unable to reproduce that form at club level. Lyon are looking poised for a 6th consecutive Ligue 1 title, but with Carew rumoured to be going to Valencia, Houllier might have felt the need to strengthen his attack.

Baros was also linked with Chelsea and Manchester City. Villa after a bright start to the season, have lost their bearings in recent weeks, and Martin O’Neill will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Edit- Lyon have signed Baros in a swap for John Carew. That wasn’t totally unexpected, but still comes as a surprise :)
