Premiership standings 2006-07

By Soccer Blog | May 14, 2007

Here are the final standings of the 20 teams in the Premiership after everyone played their thirty eighth games on Sunday.

1.) Manchester United

2.) Chelsea     ( Automatic qualification for the Champions League group stage)

3.) Liverpool

4.) Arsenal ( Champions League qualifying stages)

  • 5.) Tottenham
  • 6.) Everton
  • 7.) Bolton ( UEFA Cup- Bolton get in because Chelsea won the Carling Cup, and one of Chelsea and United will win the FA Cup)

8.) Reading

9.) Portsmouth

10.) Blackburn – Intertoto Cup
11.) Aston Villa

12.) Middlesbrough

13.)Newcastle

14.) Manchester City

15.) West Ham

16.) Fulham

17.) Wigan

18.) Sheffield United

19.)Charlton

20.) Watford

The last three teams get relegated, and I must tell you that it was cruel on Sheffield. Wigan fought for their lives in the last twenty minutes of their 2-1 win against Sheffield as the Blades desperately sought a way to get a point and ensure survival.

West Ham stay, and that means we will get to see more of Carlos Tevez next season. His final day goal against United was instrumental in ensuring that the Hammers will not play next season in the Championship.

Sunderland and Birmingham have been promoted from the Championship, and one of Deby, Southampton,Wolves and  West Brom will join them
