Robbie Fowler moves to Cardiff City

By Soccer Blog | Jul 22, 2007

Former Liverpool and Leeds striker Robbie Fowler will play for Welsh club Cardiff City in the  Championship for the 2007/2008 season. Fowler, who was a free agent after having been released by Liverpool, has reportedly agreed to join the Bluebirds on a two year contract.

Cardiff recently sold Michael Chopra to Sunderland. Fowler joins Peter Whittingham and Trevor Sinclair in the list of players from Premiership clubs to move to Ninian Park. If Fowler helps Cardiff to win promotion to the Premiership next season, Dave Jones’ side will become the first non English club to play in the English top flight. Cardiff have a fanatical set of supporters, and if Fowler impresses, he could become a legend at the Welsh club, just as he was at Liverpool.

Although Fowler is on the wrong side of 30, there is no doubting the fact that the man is one of the best goal poachers in the footballing world. Here is wishing him all the best of luck at Cardiff City.
