Freddy Adu moves to Benfica

By Soccer Blog | Aug 1, 2007

US wonderkid Freddy Adu has made a move to Europe, and it is not to England, Italy or Spain. He has decided to join Portuguese club Benfica for a fee of two million US dollars. The Ghana born 18 year old forward had been traded to Real Salt Lake in 2006 from DC United, and made eleven appearances for the club before opting for a change in continents.

Adu was the youngest player in the history of the MLS when he appeared in a DC United jersey at the age of fourteen. He is also the youngest ever player to play for the United States.

One star less for the MLS, one more for the BWNLiga.
