James Morrison to miss game against South Africa

By Soccer Blog | Aug 21, 2007

West Bromwich Albion midfielder James Morrison will miss Scotland’s international friendly against South Africa on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. The 21 year old Darlington born player was due to make his debut for Scotland against the Bafana Bafana. Morrison has played for England at every youth level, but chose to play for Scotland’s senior side.

Morrison is a product of the Middlesbrough youth academy, and moved to the Baggies in August 2007 for a fee of one and a half million pounds.

With Barry Ferguson being unavailable, Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher will captain the national side.

The game will be played at the Pittodrie stadium in Aberdeen.

England have also been hit by a spate of injuries. For their friendly against Germany, the Three Lions will most certainly be without Andy Johnson, Darren Bent, Steven Gerrard and Owen Hargreaves. Woodgate, King and Campbell are unavailable too.
