Euro 2008 qualifying results October 13

Saturday night was witness to some crucial games in European qualifying. Here are the results from those games.

Group A :

Armenia 0-0 Serbia

Poland 3-1 Kazakhstan ( Ebi Smolarek*3/ Dmitriy Byakov)

A hattrick from Racing Santander forward Smolarek sees the Poles take all three points  and retain their spot at the top of Group A.

Azerbaijan 0-2 Portugal ( Bruno Alves, Hugo Almeida)

Group B :

Scotland 3-1 Ukraine ( Kenny Miller, Lee McCulloch, James McFadden/ Andriy Shevchenko)

The Scots end Ukrainian hopes, while keeping their spot at the top.

Italy 2-0 Georgia ( Andrea Pirlo, Fabio Grosso)

Faroe Islands 0-6 France ( Karim Benzema *2, Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Jerome Rothen, Hatem Ben Arfa)

Henry equals Michel Platini’s French goal scoring record. Both have 42 goals to their name.

Group C :

Hungary 2-0 Malta ( Robert Feczesin, Daniel Tozser)

Greece 3-2 Bosnia and Herzegovina ( Angelos Charisteas, Teofanis Gekas, Nikos Liberopoulos/ Mirco Hrgovic, Bedat Ibesevic)

Moldova 1-1 Turkey ( Victor Franza, Umit Karan)

Group D :

Slovakia 7-0 San Marino ( Marek Hamsik, Stanislav Sestak*2, Marek Separa, Martin Skrtel, Filip Holosko, Jan Durica  pen)

Cyprus 3-1 Wales ( Yiannis Okkas*2, Konstantinos Charalampadis/ James Collins)

Bad news for John Toshack and his boys

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Germany

Group E :

England 3-0 Estonia ( Shaun Wright Philips, Wayne Rooney, Taavi Rahn OG)

First goal for Rooney in 40 months for the national side. Easy win for the English, who now face Russia in Moscow on Wednesday.

Croatia 1-0 Israel ( Eduardo Da Silva)

Group F :

Iceland 2-4 Latvia ( Eidur Gudjohnsen*2/ Okars Klava, Juris Laizans, Maris Verpakovskis*2)

Denmark 1-3 Spain ( Jon Dahl Tomasson/ Raul Tamudo, Sergio Ramos, Alberto Riera)

Liechenstein 0-3 Sweden ( Freddie Ljungberg, Anders Svensson, Christian Wilhelmsson)
Group G :

Romania 1-0 Holland ( Dorin Goian)

Slovenia 0-0 Albania

Belarus 0-1 Luxembourg ( Alphonse Leeweck)

First win for Luxembourg in 12 years.
