Manchester City after Modric ?

By Soccer Blog | Mar 13, 2008

If reports in the press are to be believed, Manchester City are reportedly wanting to sign Croatian starlet Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb. Modric, 22, currently wears the No.10 at his club and is considered to be one of the hottest players in his native Croatia.

The Times suggests that Sven will have to fork out £17 million to bring Modric to the City of Manchester Stadium.

Manchester City face competition for the player from another ” Blue ” club- Chelsea. The presence of fellow countryman Vedran Corluka may tip the balance in City’s favour. If Modric wants to play in Europe next season, then he may opt for Chelsea.

According to Wikipedia, Modric lacks physical power, but doesn’t lack in aggression. That might make it difficult for him to adjust to the physical nature of the Premiership, especially against clubs like Bolton.

He is comfortable with the ball either foot,  and has good passing and shooting skills.
