Nani to join West Ham

By Soccer Blog | Mar 18, 2008

All you Red Devils, do not get angry at the headline. It is not Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha who is heading to Upton Park, but Brescia sporting director Gianluca Nani.

The Italian, 45, will begin his role as West Ham’s technical director in June.  The appointment of Nani signals the end of a six month long search by the Hammers for the right candidate.

It is being reported that Nani and Alan Curbishley have already discussed potential summer transfer targets.

The Hammers are currently 10th in the Premiership with fourty three points from thirty games, and are seven points away from sixth placed Pompey and a European spot.

They defeated fellow European aspirants Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Upton Park last weekend thanks to a late goal from Freddie Sears on his first team debut for the club. The teenager was supposed to be in the starting 11, but dropped to the bench after Bobby Zamora took painkillers and was deemed fit to play.
