Dudley road to be named after Duncan Edwards

By Soccer Blog | Oct 11, 2008

Duncan Edwards, widely regarded as one of the brightest young players of his generation, could have a route in his native Dudley named after him. Edwards, who was one of the victims of the disastrous Munich air crash that claimed the lives of several Manchester United players in 1958, is buried at Dudley Cemetery. The town also has a statue of its favourite footballing son.

The statue is in the main shopping square in the town centre.

Duncan Edwards Close was also named after him in the early 90′s.

The Dudley Southern Bypass was opened on October 15,1999 and is a major road in the town.
The council are considering renaming the Dudley Southern Bypass as Duncan Edwards way.
