Spartak Moscow 1-2 Udinese- UEFA Group D

A brace from Fabio Quagliarella helped Udinese beat Spartak Moscow 2-1 at the Luzhniki Stadium on Thursday night. Playing their first game against Russian opposition, Pasquale Marino’s side got the result they wanted, are currently lead group D with six points from two games. They had beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in their first game.

In the absence of Antonio Di Natale, Udinese were relying on Quagliarella for goals, and the former Sampdoria hitman did not disappoint, scoring in both halves as Zebrette ran out 2-1 winners. Quagliarella opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Clemente Rodriguez equalised for the hosts five minutes late. On the hour mark, Quagliarella restored Udinese’s one goal advantage by slotting home a penalty. Udinese also had Giovanni Pasquale sent off, but hung on to deny Michael Laudrup’s side an equaliser.
