Man City agree fee for Bridge

By Soccer Blog | Jan 2, 2009

Manchester City and Chelsea have come to an agreement for left back Wayne Bridge, who has now been given permission by the Blues to speak to Mark Hughes’ side.

City have reportedly offered Chelsea £12m for Bridge, who is currently the second choice left back at Stamford Bridge after Ashley Cole. Bridge joined Chelsea from Southampton for £7m in 2003.

Bridge will certainly be guaranteed first team football at Eastlands, and this could also help his chances of reviving his international career.

Manchester City currently have two players in the left back position- Michael Ball and Javier Garrido, neither of whom have really looked like real quality.

Luiz Felipe Scolari is targettting Russian midfielder Yuri Zhirkov should Bridge agree personal terms and pass a medical at City.

I think most clubs will be treading carefully because of the economic climate but Man City are not short of a few bob and Wayne Bridge will be the first of several new signings.

I am looking forward to Manchester City’s sign ups next season. They have the money. I think they can afford better player than Wayne Bridge. :D

Excellent information. This sounds exactly like what I’ve been looking for.
