Bernardi arrived at Monaco from Marseille in 2001, and made 228 appearances for Les Rouge et Blanc. A defensive midfielder, known for his commitment and hard work in the centre of the park, Bernardi was part of the Monaco side that won the 2003 French Cup. He was also part of the side that lost the 2004 Champions League final to Jose Mourinho’s FC Porto.
