Manchester City in shock move for Keane?

By Soccer Blog | Jan 27, 2009

robbie-keaneThis news comes from the Sun. Manchester City are also considering the possibility of signing struggling Liverpool striker Robbie Keane.

Keane has struggled to adjust to life at Anfield after his £20m switch from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, and is currently linked with a move out of Anfield after being left out of the eighteen member squad to face Everton in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The way Liverpool line up in their midfield has also seen limited opportunities for the Irishman this season. The Riera-Alonso-Mascherano-Kuyt combination, with Gerrard just ahead and Torres playing alone upfront is generally the formation Liverpool have preferred this season.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his interest in Keane, and bookmakers also think Keane could be on a shock loan switch to injury hit local rivals Everton. The Toffees have all their frontline strikers in the physio’s room, and are currently operating with Tim Cahill as their makeshift forward.

Liverpool football shirts with Robbie Keane on them have not quite set the market on fire yet. What does the future have in store for the Wolves academy product? We’ll keep you updated here.
