By Soccer Blog | Feb 7, 2009

Manchester United’s Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic has been named Premier League player of the month for January 2009. Vidic’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson got the Premier League manager of the month award for January 2009 after he guided the Red Devils to wins in all four of their league games.

In January 2009, Manchester United beat Chelsea 3-0, Bolton 1-0, West Bromwich Albion 5-0 and Everton 1-0. Vidic scored two goals in these four games- one against Chelsea and the other against West Brom.

This is the first time Vidic has been named Player of the Month. His manager has won it 21 times before though- this is his 22nd award.
