Juan Manuel Llop leaves Racing Club

By Soccer Blog | Feb 22, 2009

Juan Manuel Llop has quit as manager of Argentine Primera Division side Racing Club de Avellaneda after they lost to bitter rivals Indepediente on Saturday. Indepediente won the Avellaneda city derby thanks to goals from Lucas Pusineri and Daniel Montenegro.

Llop replaced Miguel Mico as manager of Racing last year. Racing finished seventeenth in Argentina last year, and only managed to avoid relegation because they beat Belgrano de Córdoba in the playoffs.

Llop was the 16th Racing manager in the last ten years. He played over 300 times for Newell’s Old Boys as a midfielder in the 1980’s and early 1990’s.
