Panathinaikos express interest in Ajax’s Leonardo

By Soccer Blog | Mar 11, 2009

Ajax Amsterdam left winger Leonardo might leave the Amsterdam Arena for Greece this summer. The Brazilian’s contract expires in June 2009, but Ajax have not yet offered him a new deal. He came to Ajax from NAC Breda in January 2007.

Leonardo’s agent Hans Coret said that his client is happy in the Dutch capital, but is growing increasingly frustrated at the club’s delay in offering him a new deal. He further added that Panathinaikos had made an offer to Leonardo, and that minor details were left to be ironed out before the deal became a formality.

Panathinaikos are managed by Henk Ten Cate, who has made no secret of his interest in Leonardo. The Greek side were knocked out of the 2008-09 Champions League by Villareal yesterday in the Round of 16.
