Bayern Munich show interest in Michael Jakobsen

By Soccer Blog | Apr 3, 2009

German giants Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in securing the services of Aab Aalborg defender Michael Jakobsen. Jakobsen, 23, had a disappointing spell in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven between 2003 and 2005, but has become one of Aalborg’s key players since his return to Denmark.

Jakobsen’s natural position is left back, although he can also slot in as a centre back. Bayern Munich’s current left back is Philipp Lahm, with Ze Roberto and Christian Lell filling in for him when injured.

This is not the first time a foreign club has shown interest in Jakobsen. He was linked with a host of German clubs- Schalke, Hamburg, Borussia Monchengladbach and Werder Bremen among them, last December when he had less than twelve months to go on his contract at Aab. He however signed a new deal that would see him stay at the Energi Nord Arena till 2012.

English clubs Everton, Bolton and Newcastle were also interested in Jakobsen, but Bayern Munich showing interest might make the defender carefully sit down and consider his future options.

Bayern are also tracking the progress of Viktor Elm’s younger brother, Rasmus Elm, who plays for Kalmar in Sweden.
