Chelsea join race for Inter’s Maicon

By Soccer Blog | Apr 4, 2009

Chelsea have joined Real Madrid in Maicon’s growing list of admirers. The Brazilian right back’s agent Antonio Caliendo told Radio Kiss Kiss that Chelsea were interested in his client, and added that at least two other English clubs also wanted him.

Maicon has been of Inter’s key players this season. His surging runs down the right, along with his ability to defend equally well when required, makes the player a worthy acquisition. He joined the Nerazzuri from Monaco in July 2006 on a five year contract.

He is currently out for the rest of the season after injuring himself on international duty with Brazil ( against Ecuador in March)

AS had reported that Real Madrid had faxed an offer for Maicon to Inter last week, but Los Merengues seemed to have cooled their interest in the player.

If Chelsea do opt to sign Maicon, it could cast a doubt on the future of Portuguese wing back Bosingwa, who currently handles that role at Stamford Bridge.
