Sulaiman Al Fahim bid for Pompey accepted

By Soccer Blog | May 27, 2009

English Premier League club Portsmouth have announced that their owner Alexandre Gaydamak has accepted an offer from Dubai based billionaire Dr.Sulaiman Al-Fahim to buy the club.

Al-Fahim, who is on the board of the Abu Dhabi United Group (Owners of Man City), had talks with Pompey chairman Peter Storrie last night in Rome.

Russian tycoon Gaydamak, who put the club up for sale last December, had rejected a bid from Ramon Vega in February 2009. He took charge of Pompey in January 2006.

Fahim is expected to take charge as chairman of Pompey once the deal is fully complete.

Portsmouth had a disappointing 2008-09 season, a far cry from last season when Harry Redknapp took them to the UEFA Cup.
