Fatih Terim to quit Turkey post

By Soccer Blog | Oct 11, 2009

Fatih Terim, the coach of the Turkish national football team, will put in his papers after his side’s final World Cup 2010 qualifying game against Armenia on Wednesday night. Terim will step down as coach of the team he has managed for nearly the last four years, having taken over the reigns from Ersun Yanal in 2005.

Turkey, semi finalists at Euro 2008, have had a disappointing qualifying campaign, and have picked up only twelve points from nine games. Spain took the automatic qualifying spot from the group, while Bosnia and Herzegovina took the playoffs spot after they beat Estonia and Turkey lost to Belgium on Saturday.
