Chelsea transfer ban temporarily reversed

By Soccer Blog | Nov 6, 2009

We had reported in September that Chelsea were banned by FIFA till 2011 for their alleged involvement in inducing Gael Kakuta to break his contract with Lens.

However the Court of Arbitration for Sport ( CAS) has temporarily stayed the sanctions until it takes a final decision in the matter. “Such sanctions are now stayed until the Cas renders its final decision in this matter”, said the organisation in a statement on Friday, November 6, 2009.

No date for the final decision was given, but as of today, CAS’ verdict means that Chelsea can buy and sell players in the January 2010 winter transfer window.
