New Spain World Cup 2010 Shirt Jersey

By Soccer Blog | Nov 14, 2009

The new Spain 2010 World Cup football shirt has been released. It is the second shirt that the Spanish national football team has unveiled this year, after their Confederations Cup shirt. The jersey has been manufactured by Adidas, who seem to have drawn inspiration from the strip worn by the national side in the 1980’s. If you especially have a look at the kit Iker Casillas is wearing, you’ll be strongly reminded of the time when Luis Arconada was keeper of the national side.

Launch place :- The shirt was unveiled at the Kinepolis cinema complex in Pozuelo (Madrid)

Shirt debut :- Worn for the first time against Argentina- international friendly on November 14, 2009.

The new Spain WC 2010 kit celebrates the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Spanish football federation. The gold bands on the sleeves are a tribute to South Africa ( Johannesburg, the capital, is famous for its gold reserves). The red shirt is paired with blue pants.

Why would Spain want a new World Cup shirt? Their current shirt is nice enough, in fact better than that cheap and tacky one above, which looks like a has been made on PES. I can’t see why they’re for changing kit every year, which is also what France have done. Shirts are expensive enough and this nothing more than to fleece fans out of their money. That goalkeeper kit is bloody awful too.

You are quite right Brian- probably a shirt too much. Two releases in a year is unfair to those fans who bought the Confed Cup shirt thinking it would last the full year.

South Africa’s have gone and got themselves a new kit too, and they had one manufactured for the Confederations Cup too.

Both the new home jersey and goalkeeper shirt is a classic from 1980! try to appreciate the history. And I think they look just fine.
