Egypt’s Mido leaves Ajax, cancels contract

Egyptian striker Mido has left Ajax Amsterdam by mutual consent after terminating his contract with the club. Mido had put in a request to leave the club and Ajax agreed to cancel his contract on January 4, 2011 ( Tuesday)

Mido is now free to sign with any other club in the current winter transfer window and his agent has said that there is plenty of interest from both England and Spain. Mido’s former club, Egyptian giants Zamalek, are also interested, but it is understood that the striker, whose real name is Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid, wants to stay in Europe.

In the Premier League, Mido has already represented Tottenham, Wigan, Middlesbrough and West Ham. In Spain, he has previously represented Celta Vigo.
