West Ham United drew first blood against Birmingham in this Carling Cup semifinal tie thanks to Carlton Cole’s late winner ( also a blunder from opposition keeper Ben Foster). The Hammers also ended the game with ten after a red card for Victor Obinna.

The winner of the West Ham Birmingham tie will face the winner of the Ipswich Arsenal tie in the final.
