Video- Pepe Red Card vs Barcelona Champions League 2011 Real Madrid

This Pepe red card vs Barcelona saw Real Madrid reduced to ten men in the first leg of their Champions League 2011 Semifinal against their arch rivals. The Pepe red card came minutes after the Portuguese defender had played his part in getting Javier Mascherano a yellow card. Referee Wolfgang Stark awarded the Pepe red card against Barcelona for a studs up challenge on Barcelona’s Daniel Alves.

Pepe’s red card was however not the only red card awarded in the game, with Barca’s substitute keeper Jose Pinto and Real manager Jose Mourinho also getting red cards.

  1. a well-deserved red card, what’s funny is that Mourinho is blaming the world for this like his team didn’t deserve to lose *COWARDS* !!

  2. “A well-deserved red card”
    1. He did not touch Alves.
    2. His foot was not high.

Alves deserved a red card and a hefty fine for faking an injury, damaging the reputation of Pepe, and giving us a display of acting defying belief. As Rio Ferdinand said – “If you ever see me go off on a stretcher then run back on to play, I give everyone on here the green light to him me with a two-footed tackle.”

This is a shameful time to be a Barcelona FC fan.

  3. Morinho does not have a complete formula against Barca…It is not only to defend well and pack the mid field but also u don’t have to commit to rough tackle…

  4. watch this

he doesnt touch him, its a 50/50 ball, dani alves spins cuz of the momentum
why talk bad about mourinho when u dont know anything?

  5. It is a shame to football. I suggest Alves to get a lifetime ban bse this is not the first time he is pretending.

  6. did not deserve a red card as well. just another example of an injury completely faked. happens at 3 times every game. man up soccer players. man up.

  7. any real Madrid fans trying to get some revenge for the loss…your opinions are invalid, because this does not change anything…on topic…i think alves should be suspended and fined for this act….honestly what do these professional players take soccer for?…i see messi or C.ronaldo get tackled and i dont see them complaining about it…or faking it…..it annoys me when i see players fighting and faking injury on the field…ya dani alves is not the first person to do it but i think the fifa community or whoever is calling the shots should take some steps into stopping BS like this from occurring often

  8. i am not a fan of Jose Mourinho, but i think he is right on this one. Those referees normally destroy big games. I personally think the referee was wrong on the red card. What ever happen to that great Italian referee call Colina. He was the best for big games.

    Johnsayee

  9. it was a shame for FC. barca. a shame for pep guardiola and Dani alvez as well. I am a real fan but i have my conscience, Pepe did not touch Dani alvez. all people around the world have seen that. this is not justice.
    thats it!

  10. When one commits a foul should be penalised, Its better we judge all the fouls of all the said big matches and see their validity. Attacking Barca coach is not fair, he teachs football and he wins -this is what is required to, you want him loose so that justice could be seen?.
Think of if that Pepe’s card was given during a league 1 match and it was Barca against Attletico M, would these words come in the same way like how it is now happening.
Stretching convinces a refferee to award one a card however, Alves exaggeratred in case there is punishment for exaggeration then let it take its way.

  11. what an actor!!
Real shouldn’t receive the credit, barce should. here are some
suggestion for the next academy award:

    Best Directing – Pep Guardiola
Best Actor in a Leading Role – Daniel Alves
Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Sergio Busquets

this is a bigger achievement for Barce then their trebles.
If they do contact, alves will not be playing for the rest game, unless he magically recover.

  12. wtf, pepe deserved this red card. its Soccer not kung fu… he is so violent in every game, i hate him. what a loser.

  13. How could Pepe get a red car…. !!! Think … He didn’t touch Alves leg but Alves had so pain in his feet that after they took him out of the plan, he comes back in 2 minutes… Is that possible? Have the doctor magic powers or what?…. There is no sense. The match shouldn’t end so and Real whould be in Champions League Final not Barcelona. I thought Barcelona was better than this, but i thought wrong.
