Celtic manager Neil Lennon attacked by Hearts fan video 2011

Celtic boss Neil Lennon had a lucky escape as a Heart of Midlothian fan tried to attack the Hoops gaffer during the Hearts vs Celtic Scottish Premier League game on May 11, 2011. Celtic eventually won the game 3-0, with Hoops midfielder Kris Commons and Hearts’ David Obua both getting sent off. Lennon was attacked by the Hearts fan shortly after Celtic had got their second goal in the game against the Jambos. Fortunately for Lennon, police were on hand to restrain the Hearts fan who tried to assault him.

The fan ran out from the dugout and tried to attack Lennon with a drop kick to the head but failed. Officers on duty at Tynecastle did their job and quickly escorted the fan out. This attack on Lennon comes just weeks after the Celtic gaffer had received parcel bombs. Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby said the fan attack had left his manager shaken and he woud consider his future at Parkhead.

What was the name of the Hearts fan who attacked Neil Lennon?

The Hearts fan was later identified as John Wilson, 26, from Edinburgh. He has been banned for life from Tynecastle for attacking Lennon.

  1. What is Scottish football coming to?

Deplorable attack on Lennon- he ought to go and manage in England instead of suffering shit like this.

  2. deplorable attack. the fan should be jailed for a lengthy spell. i also think lennon needs to reflect on his behaviour – he was attacked but shouldnt have retaliated by stamping on the idiot twice. don’t reduce yourself to their level son… just don’t.
