By Soccer Blog | Aug 9, 2011

The West Ham v Aldershot Town & Charlton v Reading Carling Cup 2011 games have been postponed on the advice of the local police due to the ongoing riots in London. The two Carling Cup 2011 fixtures involving the Hammers and the Addicks, both London clubs, were due to be played tonight ( August 9, 2011), but both clubs opted to put safety first and decided to cancel the fixtures.

No rescheduled date has currently been given for both fixtures. West Ham and Charlton both had contrasting starts to the new campaign on Saturday, with the Hammers losing 1-0 to Cardiff City in their Championship opener and the Addicks triumphing 3-0 over Bournemouth at the Valley in League One.
