  1. I’m amazed at the whinge time McLeish has been given on this one. Fergi-lite trying to deflect attention from his team’s implosion in the 2nd half somehow gets dozens of stories in the media calling for a VanPersie ban.

Facts are the ref was only a few metres away and had a clear view and took no action, so unless he does a Howard Webb and lies about what he saw or didn’t see, no further action can be taken.

The other important fact is that van Persie is only glancing at Cuellar to protect the ball, and Cuellar actually had to bend down to contact his elbow; if van Persie was trying to elbow Cuellar, he would have raised his arm to head height and missed him completely because Cuellar’s head was well below his shoulder. If this was an intentional elbow, van Persie must have absolutely no clue about basic human anatomy.

  2. Nothing in it, McLeish moaning to distract his rubbish management style! RVP is class, his goal tally this season says it all!

  3. villa vs arsenal match score 3-2,
two goals from Van Persie through pinalty print,
Arsenal cmon u can do it. get the trophy the FA CUP
Now that City and United are out We have a decent chance of winning the FA cup.
A good result for the season would be a top four finish and the FA cup.

  4. just the usual contact. if a red card were given every time this happened, football would be a very slow game.

  5. Of course, McLeish will be all worked up and pointing fingers after their loss to Arsenal, especially when they have started very well.

I bet he composed his script after the Van Persie’s goal was scored, glad FA decided against punishing the skipper
