If England are a Quarter-Final team, then Germany must surely be the Semi-Final side at major tournaments. The calm, composed and technically sound German machinery seems to breakdown at the last 4 stage with alarming consistency. History favoured the Italians, whose organisation and willingness to hit on the counter attack nullified the usually greater offensive creativity of the Germans. Kudos to Italy, who have made it into the final despite all their internal problems prior to Euro 2012. In my opinion, they stand a greater chance of upsetting Spain than Germany. The Spaniards were made to sweat in their group encounter, and conceded their only goal in this competition against the Azzuri. An Italian victory at Euro 2012 may not be a major upset like Greece and Denmark’s capture of the trophy, but still another story of a team which overcame adversity to be crowned champions.

The italians play superior football, plain and simple. it is completely foolish to label them as “underdogs”. they fair brilliantly in competition despite ranking stats and they have the medals to prove. they usually win or just fall short. if they exit at any point, it’s usually to the team that wins it all.

That‘s a game for you. In a game there are two things involved. It is either you win or you loose but for a winner it does not means you are the best but you possesses the quality and for the other side (i means the looser) it does not means you are poor but an advantage over you so add more effort in the next coming tournament. And the 2010 team were a great team on the counter with lightning speed down the flanks, something this German side didn’t do

I’m an italian, but however Germany has played a very good football before this defeat. The first goal was a decisive event in that match. The Germany, who before that match had always played doing a goal before the other teams, loose itself morale and can’t find the goal’s way. Buffon and Chiellini have did a great job in the defensive side destroying all German goal occasions. Infacts the Germans was shocked ’cause they before have faced poor difensive teams, as Portugal, Greece, Holland and Denmark. But the Azzurri could be beated only by counter-attacks or by the Spanish tiki-taka, ’cause it compacts the opponent’s team and then easy catch the goal with what we call “Diagonale”, or more simply a web of fast passages with a surprising and fast hit to the ball, that Spain easy could do. I don’t agree who said that Germany is poor at defensive side, but simply they was shocked by Ballottelli’s goal. Everyone could have a goal such as Ballottelli’s one. That was only the luck of a good counterattack. I think that it was more fair a Final by Germany vs Spain. Infacts the one could stop the “Furie Rosse” were the Germans, cause the game of the Germany can’t be surprised by the tiki-taka and also they are better at making goal occasions. The pressing of the Spain sometimes is too aggressive and the “German Panzer” could be tiresome to the Furie Rosse that often face too defensive teams, that close itself in the difensive side after 4 minutes by the match’s start. The Italy,too, has got a too difensive-hope game, unsuccessfull versus the Spain. The Final Germany vs Spain? Probably 4-3 after the 120′. The victory? Probably we can’t never be sure. Germany is the best team in the world, Italy was just lucky. Germany had more possesion of the ball and had better attacking and better defending in the seond half. Hope Germany wins FIFA 2014 and Spain will anihilate Italy in the finals. Italy sucks!!

ya i think it was a great mistake for Germany not to start with Muller. Podolsky should not have started the game. Germany and Bayern both dont trust Muller although he is 2010 world cup golden boot.
Secondly I think Germany’s defence should be strengthened if they want to be a very solid team, specially in the center.
Thirdly I think Germany should have played a defensive game against Italy and allowed them full possession and counter attack them. If u want to succeed against Italy you must have a solid defence. Germany’s defence was too poor on both goals conceeded.
