If England are a Quarter-Final team, then Germany must surely be the Semi-Final side at major tournaments. The calm, composed and technically sound German machinery seems to breakdown at the last 4 stage with alarming consistency. History favoured the Italians, whose organisation and willingness to hit on the counter attack nullified the usually greater offensive creativity of the Germans. Kudos to Italy, who have made it into the final despite all their internal problems prior to Euro 2012. In my opinion, they stand a greater chance of upsetting Spain than Germany. The Spaniards were made to sweat in their group encounter, and conceded their only goal in this competition against the Azzuri. An Italian victory at Euro 2012 may not be a major upset like Greece and Denmark’s capture of the trophy, but still another story of a team which overcame adversity to be crowned champions.

Great performance by Italy, poor defending from Germany.
Germany had a great potential of winning, but that’s it for them in this tournament.

    Good luck Germany in 2014!

  19. John June 29, 2012 3:31 am

Mario balotelli, what a lovely man. And yes he is Italian.

  20. james June 29, 2012 3:55 am

and now for italy to beat spain…spains luck has to run out …the italians have shown great determination ….the only real team in this tournament..written off from the beginning but now in the final..forza italia

  21. kashif June 29, 2012 4:08 am

Hope they do the same in finals.

  22. Jon eddi June 29, 2012 4:09 am

Italy will beat Spain with the same margin as that of Germany.GOOOO ITALy

  23. Care June 29, 2012 4:11 am

That early missed Hummels chance looks very important when you look back at the game

  24. The Spaniard June 29, 2012 4:21 am

The italians play superior football, plain and simple. it is completely foolish to label them as “underdogs”. they fair brilliantly in competition despite ranking stats and they have the medals to prove. they usually win or just fall short. if they exit at any point, it’s usually to the team that wins it all.

a pretty impresive record to say the least.

  25. Antides Santo June 29, 2012 4:23 am

From the beginning, 2DF or Erste have offered the view of most games, freely, to us in the South. Yesterday Italy was a great winner, with the strength and animic power of one black Italian. This does not mean they will win the competition. Spain has a good team too. Finally, logic failed! Respect for that tear on the face of a German supporter. We are all part of one team, the fans of this incredible sport.

  26. Liam June 29, 2012 5:20 am

Will Spain regret not drawing 2-2 with Croatia?

    I think yes

  27. yo June 29, 2012 5:30 am

buffon is just too good… thats an advantage for italy

  28. Mr.M June 29, 2012 6:09 am

    Low should’ve started with Muller.

That being said, the German WC 2010 team would have beaten this Italian side

  29. enzo June 29, 2012 6:14 am

Who knows football, he understands why Italy won. FORZA ITALIA!!!!

  30. Oluwaniyi busuyi June 29, 2012 6:15 am

What a mess frm germany instead of good defending they are seeking for goal

  31. Hoyo caleb June 29, 2012 6:17 am

I alway said it possible for the impossible.

  32. Rose June 29, 2012 6:59 am

Lookes like Germany wanted to lose intentionally.

  33. Tony June 29, 2012 7:02 am

Germany lacked a leader- somebody who could really standup and take charge of stuff after Italy had gone 2-0 up.

As for Balotelli, when his mind is up to it, he’s better than most forwards in the world.

Hummels had a very poor game by his standards- if he matures more, you’d still bank on Germany for the 2014 World Cup

  34. Oggisonoio June 29, 2012 7:53 am

Ciao germans… …what about a slice of pizza? Well: two is much better!

  35. tony June 29, 2012 7:55 am

Before the beginning of the tournament i said: please, everything but italy.. F**king dangerous defence team.
    And that’s the result

  36. redup June 29, 2012 8:13 am

“WHY ALWAYS ME” /BALOTELLI/ HAS FULL CONFIDENCE TO SCORE i.e WONDERFUL BEHAVIOR OF HIM.HE IS A TRUE STRIKER.

  37. Ibrahim Hassane Mahamad June 29, 2012 10:30 am

Congratulatio ITALIA to have SUPER MARIO BALLOTELLY as striker no 1 of ITALIA .Super MARIO BALLOTELLY when remove out his t-shirt it means he wants to show to the WORLD that he is from AFRICA . Mario is the PRIDE of AFRICA.

  38. Greatness June 29, 2012 10:37 am

Balotelli is inspiring in this match. Great attitude, awesome player, wonderful finishing!

  39. Loud June 29, 2012 11:01 am

    hahahahaahaha
    Pizza Balotelli !!!!
Germans will never win against Italy !!!!
    hahahahahahahahaha

    and now Spain?

we will put to the test them too!!!!!

    We got Super Mario!!!!!!!

  40. Neutral Observer June 29, 2012 11:06 am

To me lst goal sheer defence lapse and
second goal a marginal case of off-side – since Bartolli is waiting for the ball
    facing his goal

  41. swigs June 29, 2012 11:25 am

Yeah, the Germans broke down….ha ha ha ha….ball domination and far more chances than the Italians. If the ref calls the first Italian hand ball in the first five minutes, we are looking at a different final. Seriously, no team matches the German superiority.

  42. Al-manzur June 29, 2012 12:16 pm

That‘s a game for you. In a game there are two things involved. It is either you win or you loose but for a winner it does not means you are the best but you possesses the quality and for the other side (i means the looser) it does not means you are poor but an advantage over you so add more effort in the next coming tournament. For Italian you try and also the German only it is a pride for Italy to won.

  43. Dave June 29, 2012 1:27 pm

    German superiority…heard that one before..

  44. Luca June 29, 2012 2:46 pm

    Mr.M June 29, 2012 6:09 am

    Low should’ve started with Muller.

That being said, the German WC 2010 team would have beaten this Italian side

Ahah, you haughty poor little man, just shut up and cry.

  45. Mr.M June 29, 2012 3:10 pm

It isn’t being haughty- Germany’s attack showed improvement when Muller came on.

And the 2010 team were a great team on the counter with lightning speed down the flanks, something this German side didn’t do

  46. Dave June 29, 2012 4:23 pm

The best defense , good strikers , Pirlo: just phenomenal , the best goalkeeper , a very dangerous combination , germany were already beaten way before the game even started ,
First it was the group stage , then england , then germany , next please , Viva la squadra azzuri, and watch out for 2014 in Brazil .

  47. manzar June 29, 2012 5:38 pm

germans are good attackers but poor defenders…

  48. Dan June 29, 2012 7:02 pm

Great game. I was on Germany’s side but with guys like Mario i’m preaty sure they’re going to win against Spain.

  49. Jonathan June 29, 2012 8:29 pm

    Second goal clearly offside…
I wasn’t cheering for either team so am completely neutral.
How can a linesman miss that call?

  50. benedetto June 29, 2012 8:59 pm

Italy it’s a very good team in each department………………………..this is aour true value.

  51. Edemund Khoo June 30, 2012 4:24 am

During the last World Cup, England were trounced 4-1 by Germany. It looked like a real shameful defeat until Argentina lost 4-0 to the Germans. 2 years later, England’s loss on penalties doesn’t seem quite so bad, in spite of their lack of possession, following Germany’s 2-1 defeat to the Italians.

  52. lampard June 30, 2012 8:57 am

spain are gonna regret drawing 2-2 with croatia
especially if they dont play with a official striker like torres

  53. Jonathan tunji onanuga June 30, 2012 9:38 am

Thank you for adding this videos of the highlights, the other a**holes in youtube only appear playing FIFA 12 and it’s annoying…

  55. T1NA June 30, 2012 9:11 pm

@ Edmund Khoo — When GREECE became the ”Euro 2004 CHAMPIONS”, it was not upsetting at all, BUT deliriously EXCITING!!! GREECE WON –FAIR AND SQUARE– which is why GREECE’S Team lifted The 2004 Cup!! So, if YOU (and others) BET on the WRONG team, then YOU (and others) are to blame. Wording like that simply …upsets ME!!! ….Furthermore, at the Euro 2012 Championship, GREECE ranks as the 6th Best Team in Europe.

  56. Antonio Rossi July 2, 2012 9:35 am

I’m an italian, but however Germany has played a very good football before this defeat. The first goal was a decisive event in that match. The Germany, who before that match had always played doing a goal before the other teams, loose itself morale and can’t find the goal’s way. Buffon and Chiellini have did a great job in the defensive side destroying all German goal occasions. Infacts the Germans was shocked ’cause they before have faced poor difensive teams, as Portugal, Greece, Holland and Denmark. But the Azzurri could be beated only by counter-attacks or by the Spanish tiki-taka, ’cause it compacts the opponent’s team and then easy catch the goal with what we call “Diagonale”, or more simply a web of fast passages with a surprising and fast hit to the ball, that Spain easy could do. I don’t agree who said that Germany is poor at defensive side, but simply they was shocked by Ballottelli’s goal. Everyone could have a goal such as Ballottelli’s one. That was only the luck of a good counterattack. I think that it was more fair a Final by Germany vs Spain. Infacts the one could stop the “Furie Rosse” were the Germans, cause the game of the Germany can’t be surprised by the tiki-taka and also they are better at making goal occasions. The pressing of the Spain sometimes is too aggressive and the “German Panzer” could be tiresome to the Furie Rosse that often face too defensive teams, that close itself in the difensive side after 4 minutes by the match’s start. The Italy, too, has got a too difensive-hope game, unsuccessfull versus the Spain. The Final Germany vs Spain? Probably 4-3 after the 120′. The victory? Probably we can’t never be sure. The Germany or the Spain? In that final they have been victorius boths.

  57. unkown July 2, 2012 3:44 pm

Germany is the best team in the world, Italy was just lucky. Germany had more possesion of the ball and had better attacking and better defending in the seond half. Hope Germany wins FIFA 2014 and Spain will anihilate Italy in the finals. Italy sucks!!

  58. Tom July 3, 2012 11:32 am

For all those a**holes who commented for Italy …. Its your turn…. Your team had had the most humiliating defeat ever in a major cup final…. Cry baby cry…. LOL….

  59. Keseven July 3, 2012 10:44 pm

ya i think it was a great mistake for Germany not to start with Muller. Podolsky should not have started the game. Germany and Bayern both dont trust Muller although he is 2010 world cup golden boot.

Secondly I think Germany’s defence should be strengthened if they want to be a very solid team, specially in the center.

Thirdly I think Germany should have played a defensive game against Italy and allowed them full possession and counter attack them. If u want to succeed against Italy you must have a solid defence. Germany’s defence was too poor on both goals conceeded.

  60. ramadhani July 4, 2012 11:23 pm

ilove baloteli on my life when the first time isaw this video.
