A whopping 19 players could potentially miss the second leg of the World Cup playoff between the Republic of Ireland and Denmark if they pick up a booking in the first leg at the Parken Stadium this weekend.

Because of the rule that sees bookings being carried forward to the playoffs, ten Irish players- Darren Randolph, Cyrus Christie, Shane Duffy, Ciaran Clark, Stephen Ward, Harry Arter, Glenn Whelan, Aiden McGeady, James McClean and Daryl Murphy, and nine Danish players- Kasper Schmeichel, Peter Ankersen, Simon Kjar, Thomas Delaney, Christian Eriksen, Nicolai Jorgensen, Andreas Cornelius, Yussuf Poulsen and Viktor Fischer, are in danger of missing the second leg.

The Irish already have David Meyler missing through suspension for the first leg. Denmark were a seeded team for the playoffs, with the Republic being unseeded.

The first leg will take place in Copenhagen on Saturday evening, with the reverse fixture taking place three days later (14) at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Serbian referee Milorad Mazic will be the man with the whistle for the first leg, with Szymon Marciniak refereeing the Dublin clash.
