England were placed in Group C along with the United States (Pot 2), Algeria (Pot 3) and Slovenia (Pot 4). The draw was held in Cape Town on December 4, 2009 with the likes of Charlize Theron, David Beckham, Makhaya Ntini and Haile Gebrselassie attending.

Croatia fined £15000 pounds for Heskey racial abuse
The Croatian FA has been fined 3000 CHF ( about £15000) for the racial abuse directed towards former Liverpool forward Emile Heskey in the home side’s World Cup qualifier against England in Zagreb. England won the game 4-1 thanks to a Theo Walcott hat trick.
