Manchester City beat Newcastle 2-1 at Eastlands thanks to a second half winner from substitute Adam Johnson. Roberto Mancini’s side took the lead from the spot through Tevez but Newcastle drew level through Jonas Guiterrez, who had a fine outing for the Magpies.

Manchester United fail to close the gap between them and Chelsea as they draw 0-0 against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Not the kind of performance Red Devils fans would have expected from their team- there were few chances United created.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club will be without star midfielder Cesc Fabregas for the trip to local rivals Chelsea this weekend. Fabregas sustained a hamstring injury against Sunderland a fortnight ago and has already missed the Gunners’ games against Tottenham, West Brom and Partizan Belgrade.
Wenger had rated Fabregas as 50-50 for the clash but has now announced that the Spanish star will have no role to play in the tie at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
