Sunderland selling price- £50m! Ellis Short willing to sell SAFC for <1 Aubameyang

Ellis Short is willing to listen to offers for Sunderland football club and according to media reports, the tycoon has priced the Wearside outfit at just £50m!

That is less than the £56m Arsenal paid for one Pierre Emerick Aubameyang on transfer deadline day from Dortmund, or 1/4th the price PSG paid Barca for Neymar. It’s also a little over twice the price SAFC sold Darren Bent to Aston Villa seven years ago.

Sunderland were relegated from the top flight last season and are struggling in the Championship (they’re bottom of the table at the time of writing, and were beaten 1-0 by Bolton last night), meaning that it could be two back to back relegations for the Black Cats.

The season they were relegated (2016/17)- they had the sixth biggest stadium in the PL (Stadium of Light with a capacity of 49,000) after United, Arsenal, West Ham, City and Liverpool.

The club’s debt levels would also be a concern for the new owner.

Sunderland’s population, according to the last census was 2,75,000, which would effectively mean that a little over £180 from each resident would be enough to purchase the club.
