This De Rossi dialogue on the sidelines (GIF VIDEO BELOW) has been attracting tons of attention since Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1958. In the second leg of their playoff tie against Sweden, with the game tied at 0-0 at the San Siro, and Italy needing to overturn a 1-0 lead, De Rossi is asked by the coaching staff to warm up.

He mutters angrily to the staff, loosely translated to saying “Why should I come on? We need to win, not draw” and points to Insigne.

Insigne was on the bench for the full 90 as Italy drew 0-0 and failed to qualify, with criticism being directed towards Azzuri coach Gian Piero Ventura for his tactics.
