This was meant for the top right corner, if it was a fluke he must have been aiming to kick the ball directly out of play, there is no one to pass to, no one to cross to – he was even quoted as saying he was too tired for more running so hit a speculative shot.
And let’s be honest – the first goal he scored was also sensational technique.
Meanwhile everyone is quick to applaud Rooney’s overhead shin pad deflection vs Man City as amazing skill…that is what you call a complete fluke – he didn’t even hit it with his foot.
How did no one in the league scout Cisse prior to this?
With technique and goals like that, somebody must’ve seen him before?

I was having my dinner when I saw Papiss Cisse’s on Fox Network and trust me people, the food tumbled out of my mouth as I screamed in amazement. For me, three things make this goal so special and unique.
Firstly, with regards Crouch’s goal, there is nothing unique about it. You will see volleys of that kind in many leagues around the world, EVERY single season.
You will however never see many like Cisse’s and frankly, I don’t recall seeing anything like it in my life – and I’ve been following football for decades!
This is not even a debate in my opinion. Crouch’s goal is nowhere near this goal in quality and I’ll tell you why Cisse’s goal is simply the best.
1) The curl he places on the ball. Watch his foot and you’ll realise it was deliberate. The ball veers one way and then dips the other in astonishing manner.
2) The distance from which he shoots, coupled with the bend he places on the ball.
3) He manages to chip a 6′ 4″ goalkeeper of Cech’s quality with a ball from not only an incredible distance, but with such vicious curl on it.
Sensational Goal, no doubt about it and only a top striker in form could hit a goal like that.
Was there fortune involved? yes there probably was, i mean how many times do you see players having a go only for them to end up in row Z.
Did he mean it? yes i’d say he was for sure, what else would a forward be doing in that position.
is it the best goal of the season? for me no, the Rooney goal was something extra special. (Dave, not sure what planet you are on mate, but that was an amazing goal and if it was an overhead shin….then it was even better!)
2 great goals no doubt, so just enjoy them for what they are and leave your club bias out of it. And i’m a Villa fan for the record…..

I’m a Chelsea fan for the last 11 years! How much ever I love Chelsea, I cannot deny that my love for football was gaping at that strike by Cisse! It sure was a cartload of luck, but again you need to try to get lucky and I guess we outta give it to Cisse for trying!
As for the CL. For all those Envious ManU/Arsenal/Liverpool Fans routing for Bayern. Keep wishing! Coz Chelsea may even lose the rest of their premier league games but the CL & FA Cups sure are the Blues! KTBFFH!
From my opinion , Cisse goal is the best goal of the Entire European football league tournament for 11/12 season and perhaps the best goal in the world so far. This one is another wonder in the history of football.
