This Torres red card v Spurs ( VIDEO BELOW) was a controversial incident in the Blues’ London derby clash against AVB’s Tottenham on 28 September, 2013. Torres’ red card against Spurs took away Chelsea’s second half momentum and forced them to play out the remaining period with ten men.

Torres was sent off for a second bookable offence by Mike Dean, although prima facie there appeared to be nothing wrong when he and Vertonghen challenged for the ball. Torres however had an ongoing feud of sorts with Vertonghen throughout the game, which probably influenced Dean’s decision.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
