It will be Arsenal vs MLS All Stars in San Jose for the 2016 All-Star game

Arsenal will be the MLS All-Stars’ opponents in this year’s annual fixture, the club have announced. The game between the All-Stars and the Gunners will take place on July 28, 2016 at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose (home of MLS outfit San Jose earthquakes). Arsenal will also play Chivas in California three days later (July 31)

London rivals Spurs competed in the 2015 All-Star game in Colorado, with Harry Kane scoring a peach of a goal but lost it 2-1 as Kaka and David Villa scored for the hosts.

Since 2005, British clubs have provided the opposition for all but two years for the MLS All-Star fixture. The exceptions were 2013 and 2014 when Roma and Bayern were invited.

Other English clubs to have played this fixture (apart from Spurs) include Fulham, Everton, West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Arsenal played the New York Red Bulls in their visit to the United States two years ago, losing 1-0 as Bradley Wright Phillips scored the winner for NYRB.
