The change in this game came after Ray Wilkins introduced Miroslav Stoch for John Obi Mikel. The substitution, done just after Priskin had given the Hornets a shock lead, allowed Anelka to play upfront instead of a wide position, and he duly responded with three well taken goals. Jobi McAnuff was denied an equaliser by Cech when the score was 2-1, and Anelka’s third goal put the game beyond Watford’s reach.
