Pressure mounts on Diego as Brazil crush Argentina

A horror defensive display from Argentina saw the Albicelestes lose 3-1 to bitter rivals Brazil in Rosario on Saturday night, making their task of qualifying more difficult. Fortunately for manager Diego Maradona, Ecuador, who were two points behind Argentina, remain two behind after their 2-0 loss to Colombia. However Brazil will definitely return to South Africa after their 2009 Confederations Cup victory as Dunga’s boys booked their spot at next year’s World Cup.

Final score :- Argentina 1-3 Brazil ( Jesus Datolo 66’/ Luisao 24′, Luis Fabiano 30′, 68′)

Defender Luisao headed Brazil ahead from an Elano corner on 24 minutes. A few minutes later, new Juventus signing Felipe Melo forced Mariano Andujar to make a save, but Luis Fabiano was on hand to slam home the rebound.

Napoli midfielder Jesus Datolo pulled one back for Argentina with a stunning 30 yard effort, but Brazil sealed victory minutes later when Fabiano scored his second after being fed by Real Madrid playmaker Kaka.

Argentina’s attackers did their job fairly well, but it was the way their back line faltered that will give Maradona sleepless nights in the weeks to come. They failed to cope with balls flung into the box, and every set piece looked like an occasion for Brazil to score.
