SuperSport United win inaugural Gauteng 4 trophy

SuperSport United won the inaugural Gauteng 4 trophy by beating Bidvest Wits 2-0 at the Bidvest Stadium on Sunday. Goals from Glen Salmon and David Kannemeyer in the first half gave Gavin Hunt’s men victory, after they had beaten Platinum Stars 2-0 in the semifinal earlier in the day. Bidvest had advanced to the final by beating Moroka Swallows 3-1 in the other semifinal.

In the semifinal against the Stars, Rongo Masibusana and Salmon were on target for United. Bidvest had beaten Moroka Swallows 3-1, with their goals coming from Phikolethu Spelman, Mbongeni Dlamini and Sifiso Myeni. David Radebe scored the consolation goal for the Swallows.

Bloemfontein Celtic win Macufe Cup

Bloemfontein Celtic have won the Macufe Cup at Vodacom Park after beating Free State Stars 1-0 in the final. The only goal of the game came from Patrick Maloase, who converted a late penalty after being brought down by Sanele Mbuso.

Ea Lla Koto gave a good account of themselves in the game, and indeed, things could have been different had Stars been given an early penalty when Paulus Masehe’s shot deflected off the arms of Thabo Nthethe.

Supersport United 2-1 Thanda Royal Zulu

A late goal from Daine Klate helped 10 man Supersport United post a 2-1 win over Thanda Royal Zulu at the Mpumalanga stadium in Hammersdale.

Defender Ricardo Katza scored his second goal in as many games to give Matsatsantsa the lead in the fourth minute. Thanda, who lost to AmaZulu by a goal last weekend, responded through Nigerian winger Felix Obada. Bernard Parker’s excellent run down the left flank created the goal for the home side.

SuperSport were then reduced to 10 men in the 33rd minute as Fikru Lemasse was sent off for a stamp on July Mahlangu. Referee Jerome David had no choice but to give the Ethiopian striker the marching orders.
