Here is a look at the Premier League’s Team of the Week for Round 9 in the 21/22 season, as decided by pundits Gareth Crooks and Alan Shearer.

The common names in both teams?

Both Crooks and Shearer have Ibrahima Konate, Reece James and Ben Chilwell in their defence; Mason Mount and Naby Keita in the middle of the park & Mo Salah, Phil Foden and Josh King upfront. Shearer has two West Ham players in the form of Fabianski and Zouma plus Kovacic in midfield; Crooks has Alisson and Van Dijk and Silva.

Liverpool, not surprisingly, dominate the TOTW after their thumping win over Man Utd.

When the final whistle went at St Mary’s Stadium to bring to an end a dire 90 minutes of football for Leeds United, there was a strange murmur in the away end. At least, the usually buoyant traveling fans from West Yorkshire who normally sing in defiance regardless of the result instead exchanged anxious glances and puffed out their cheeks before exhaling deeply. The sun may have been shining on the south coast but there was very little to cheer about for those few thousand fans now facing a six-hour journey home.
