Popular Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro has been handed an effective demotion after the club axed her from her regular role as match day doctor. It means that Carneiro will no longer be on the Chelsea bench and will now only operate from the club’s training base at Cobham.
Carneiro ran on to the pitch with Jon Fearn to treat Eden Hazard during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Swansea. At that time, Chelsea were down to ten following the red card to Thibault Courtois, and Hazard’s treatment meant that he was taken out of play, effectively reducing Chelsea to nine players.
