Liverpool returned to the Champions League after five years against Bulgarian side Ludogorets at Anfield on 16th September, 2014, and it was a nervy evening for supporters of the Reds. The deadlock was not broken until late in the second half when Mario Balotelli scored his first Liverpool goal, but Ludogorets seemed to have snatched a draw with a 91st minute equaliser. There was more drama to come though,
The group stages for the Champions League 2014/15 season was done today (August 28th, 2014), and Liverpool’s return to Europe has seen them land a fairly decent draw with Real Madrid, Basel and Ludogorets. Ludogorets, of course, had a defender save two penalties in the shootout to qualify for the knockout stages.
Chelsea probably have the easiest draw among English teams, drawn with Schalke, Sporting and Maribor.
Man City face a tricky group, with Bayern and Roma also with them.
