Newspaper Player Ratings Rasenballsport Leipzig 3-0 Spurs 10 March 2020 Champions League Second Leg- Alli, Dier, Sessegnon, Sabitzer

Here is a look at the player ratings from several different newspapers (English, French, Spanish, German) from RB Leipzig’s 3-0 win over Tottenham in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash.

L’Equipe player ratings Leipzig-Tottenham 3-0

L’Equipe, it appears, were horrified by Spurs’ second leg performance. Eric Dier got a 2/10 player rating, and many of his team mates were given 3/10, as was manager Jose Mourinho. Spurs had a team rating of 3.3/10, as opposed to RBL’s 6.3/10.

4/10 for both Hugo Lloris and Serge Aurier from the UK Telegraph. 6/10 for the troika of Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso.

Newspaper Player Ratings Valencia 3-4 Atalanta 10 March 2020 Champions League Second Leg-Ilicic excellent, Diakhaby poor

Here is a look at the player ratings from different European newspapers (French, Italian, Spanish) following Atalanta’s 4-3 second leg Round of 16 win over Valencia at the Mestalla, which sealed the Italian side’s passage into the last eight at the expense of Los Che. Josip Ilicic scored all four goals for Atalanta, making him the oldest player to score a Champions League away hat trick.

The French publication gave Ilicic a 9/10 player rating, just stopping short of awarding him one of their rare perfect 10’s. On the VCF side, Diakhaby got a player rating of 2/10!

Corriere della Sera player ratings Valencia-Atalanta 3-4

While L’Equipe thought Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello’s performance only warranted a 4/10 rating, Italian paper Corriere dello Sport gave him a 6.5/10! They also thought Gian Piero Gasperini outplayed his VCF counterpart Albert Celades, with the former getting a manager rating of 8/10 as opposed to the latter’s 5/10.

This Japhet Tanganga vs Upamecano Incident saw the Spurs defender absolutely take out Leipzig central defencer Dayot Upamecano (who, interestingly, has often been linked with Arsenal in the recent past) in their European clash on 10 March, 2020. Upamecano goes on a run from inside his own, and Tanganga sends him flying. No penalty given though!
