Godaddy CEO Bob Parsons Killing Elephant Video 2011

The CEO of domain registrar Godaddy, Bob Parsons, is facing flak for a video showing him killing an elephant in Zimbabwe that has surfaced in the media.

This isn’t the kind of news we’d normally cover at a soccer blog, but Parsons’ company is the registrar and host of several soccer domains on the internet.

Parson’s elephant killing video has spread virally on the internet, and the reactions, as you’d expect are not very friendly. PETA has condemned Parsons and has given him the scummiest CEO of the year award. PETA have also announced the closure of their domain account with Godaddy. Competitor Namecheap has introduced a transfer coupon to entice several hurt Godaddy customers to switch and so has domain.com.

Parsons however did have a permit to hunt the elephant and said he killed the elephant to help the Zimbabwean villagers, but the video of him standing over the dead animal has provoked furious reactions among animal lovers.

  1. Instead of shooting an elephant to feed these people, why not use the funds to travel over there to supply food and water or even better, start an organization that will supply food and water, build schools, provide farm assistance, etc….there are missionaries and organizations that go about helping that way. Shooting an elephant is not the way.

  2. I am shocked at the fact that he would commit such act. I am glad I’m not a customer. Won’t ever purchase anything from GoDaddy. Their customer service is awful anyway. Thanks for the informative article.
