This controversial Luiz Adriano goal vs Nordsjaelland ( VIDEO BELOW) had fans and pundits alike accusing the Brazilian striker of contravening the principles of fair play in Shakhtar’s 5-2 win over the Danish side on November 20, 2012. Adriano’s team mate had attempted to pass the ball back to the Shakhtar keeper Jesper Hansen following an uncontested dropball after Morten Nordstrand had received treatment, but Adriano latched on to the pass and rounded the keeper to score with the Nordsjaelland defence static.

Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu said that Adriano had scored on instinct and instructed his players to allow Nordsjaelland to score immediately after. However Taras Stepanenko stepped in to dispossess Nicolai Stokholm as he advanced on goal.

Shakhtar won the game 5-2 and qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

  2. Why are you calling him unsportsmanlike? The drop ball came from a Nordsjaelland player diving and holding his face (which wasn’t touched) to try to win a free kick. They deserved it.

  3. Why would you do that???? Ban him for 6 games , fine him 6 weeks wages,and give 6 weeks community service. Don’t think he will do it again.
