Unbelievable drama in the second leg of this Ludogorets-Steaua Champions League tie played on 27th August, 2014. Romanian side Steaua lead 1-0 from the first leg, but Bulgarian champions Ludogorets scored in the 90th minute of the game to tie it at 1-1. Ludogorets keeper Vladislav Stoyanov was red carded in the 118th minute late into extra time, leaving them with no keeper for the shootout as all their subs had already been made. Defender Moti, a Romanian international, stepped up as a stand in keeper, scored the opening penalty and then saved two opposition kicks to send Ludogorets into the group stages of the tournament for the first time in their history

  1. A script that couldn’t been written better.

The fact that Cosmin is Romanian and denied a team from his own country adds another layer of drama to the whole story.

  2. Moti is still national hero for all Bulgarian. The chairman of PFC Ludogorets Razgrad said after this match that they will ask the fans to vote if the fans like the new built stand at the stadium in Razgrad to be called Cosmin Moti Stand. I don’t know if it was a joke, but I think that the fans will vote positively. COSMIN MOTI FOREVER ONE OF US!!!!! BULGARIA LOVES YOU COSMIN!!!!!!

  3. Cosmin Moti played 7 years for Dinamo Bucharest and he was their captain. Dinamo Bucharest is the arch rival to Steaua in Romania. So it was a dream for the fans of Dinamo to see Steaua out of the Champions League. During the all match in Bucharest all the fans of Steaua whistled and sweared at Cosmin Moti. Now he paid them all together with the interests.

  4. Interesting to hear, but wouldn’t being a Romanian be more important than the rivalry between Steaua and Dinamo? They’re after all clubs from the same country.

  5. No, Sean, it’s not more important ! Steaua is the greatest specialist team for BRIBING (including at UEFA headquarters) and CHEATING.
