Luiz Adriano shattered a number of records as Shakhtar thrashed BATE Borisov 7-0 in their Champions League clash on 21st October, 2014. Adriano scored four times in the first half as Shakhtar lead 6-0 at half time and looked set to eclipse Liverpool’s 8-0 win of Besiktas from a few seasons ago.
Adriano scored five in the game, thus equalling Lionel Messi’s record for most goals in a single Champions League game.
Bayern Munich make a big statement by absolutely demolishing Roma, beating them 7-1 for their biggest away CL win. Stunning football from Pep Guardiola’s men against the Giallorossi, who are currently second in Italy.
Only consolation for Roma was Gervinho’s goal, the first Bayern had conceded in over 800 minutes across all competitions.
Unbelievable game on the evening, the CL had goals galore in this round, with Shakhtar hammering BATE 7-0 and Schalke and Sporting producing seven between them.
